Corrections Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026 · Effective: July 16, 2026

Journalism is produced at speed, and mistakes happen. What matters is what a publisher does next. This policy explains how JantaScope handles corrections, how you can report an error, how quickly we respond, and how to escalate if you are not satisfied.

It sits alongside our Editorial Policy and our Fact-Checking Policy.

1. Our Commitment

  • We review every valid correction report we receive.
  • We fix confirmed factual errors promptly.
  • We log significant corrections visibly on the article itself, so readers can see what changed.
  • We never silently delete an article to hide a mistake.
  • Pressure alone is not grounds for a change. We correct what is factually wrong; we do not remove accurate reporting because a subject dislikes it.

2. Correction, Clarification, or Retraction

  • Correction — used when we published a fact that was wrong: a wrong name, figure, date, place, or attribution. We fix the fact and note what was corrected.
  • Clarification — used when what we published was accurate but capable of being misunderstood. We rewrite for clarity and explain the clarification.
  • Retraction — used when the premise of the report itself does not hold up. We withdraw the claim, explain why, and leave a visible retraction notice.

Trivial typographical or spelling fixes that do not change the meaning of a sentence may be corrected without a public note.

3. How Corrections Are Displayed

  • A correction note is appended at the end of the article.
  • For serious errors, the note is placed at the top of the article so it cannot be missed.
  • The note states what was wrong and what is correct.
  • The article's updated date and time change to reflect the revision.

Sample correction note

Correction, 20 July 2026: An earlier version of this article stated that the scheme was approved in 2024. The approval was granted in 2025. The article has been corrected.

4. How to Report a Correction

Please include as much of the following as you can, so we can verify quickly:

  • The article URL.
  • The specific sentence or claim you believe is inaccurate.
  • The correct information.
  • Supporting evidence, such as a document, official statement, order, or data source.
  • Your name and contact details, so we can respond and seek clarification if needed.

5. Process and Timelines

  1. Acknowledgement within 48 hours of receiving your report.
  2. Review of the claim against our original source material and any evidence you provide.
  3. Publication of the correction within about 72 hours of confirming the error, and immediately where the error is serious or could cause harm.
  4. Reply to you with the outcome. If we conclude that no correction is warranted, we explain our reasons and the evidence we relied on.

6. Escalation: Grievance Officer

If you are not satisfied with how your report was handled, you may escalate it to our Grievance Officer, in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.

  • Grievance Officer: Grievance Officer, JantaScope
  • Publisher: JantaScope, operated by Keyzen
  • Address: G-45 Sej Plaza, Chunilal Giridharilal Marg, Malad West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400064, India
  • Email: support@jantascope.com
  • Phone: +91 88799 19545
  • Response time: We aim to respond to escalations within 48 hours.

When escalating, please mark your message “Grievance escalation” and include your original correspondence so we can review the full history.

7. Content Removal Requests

Our default is to correct rather than remove. Deleting reporting removes the public record, so we treat removal as a last resort. We will consider removal where:

  • A court or competent authority orders it.
  • Publication creates a real and present safety risk to an identifiable person.
  • A legally protected identity was published in error, such as that of a survivor of a sexual offence or a minor.
  • Copyright infringement is established after review.

Where content is withdrawn, we prefer to leave a visible retraction or removal notice in place of the article rather than deleting the page without explanation.

8. Changes to This Policy

We review this policy periodically. Substantive changes are reflected in the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
